Make the Distinction was born out of a deeply personal understanding: none of us become who we are alone.

As a young girl and teenager, there were moments when I could not fully see my own potential. It was the adults in my life—mentors, coaches, teachers, and community members—who spoke life into me when I needed it most. They reminded me of my worth, my abilities, and my purpose before I could clearly recognize them myself. That experience shaped me in ways I will never forget. It taught me that sometimes it takes others to help us see who we truly are so we can walk boldly in our confidence.

I was fortunate to be surrounded by a village that poured into me through sports, church, school, and summer camp. Each space contributed to my growth, my resilience, and my belief in what was possible. After serving as a City Year Corps Member with AmeriCorps, I saw firsthand how transformational that kind of support can be. That realization became my calling.

Make the Distinction exists to create the very space that shaped me—a space where girls are supported, seen, and empowered through mentorship, exposure, and community building. Our mission is to help young girls recognize what makes them distinct (sets them apart), expand their vision for their futures, and develop the confidence to pursue their purpose.

Because when girls are surrounded by people who speak life into them, they begin to believe in themselves. And when they believe in themselves, there is no limit to what they can achieve. We are not just building up individuals, but "empowering tomorrow's leaders, one girl at a time."
