About Us
Make the Distinction's mission is to develop girls between the ages of 11-17 with lifelong skills in the areas of personal and professional development, so that they can become leaders in their communities. Our goal is to ensure girls are prepared to graduate high school with confidence to enter any space knowing that they belong and they are capable of succeeding. Teens who possess strong leadership skills become effective communicators, critical thinkers, and contributors to their communities. Ultimately, these transferable soft skills are imperative to their personal and professional growth becoming a young adult.
Make the Distinction received its nonprofit (501c3) status in 2019 and was founded in 2017 on the premise of providing a space for girls to receive mentorship as they transition into young adulthood. Make the Distinction serves girls in middle and high schools, offers an 8-week leadership program twice a year, hosts an annual Day Retreat, along with various workshops and fun events outside of school. Areas of focus include, effective communication, leadership development, and healthy relationships. We have serviced 440 girls since our inception and collaborated with over 15 organizations. We look forward to continued growth and collaboration to uplift our girls.
